The Central City Artist Project is a non-profit organization founded by people who believe artists play integral roles in healthy communities. We have created a residency program in the heart of Central City, a populated, historic neighborhood in New Orleans struggling to overcome not just Hurricane Katrina’s destruction but also two long-standing community scourges - poverty and crime
Professional visual artists, writers, composers and others apply for residencies that last from one to four months and afford the opportunity to complete a body of work that is informed by the community and its residents. The successful applicants will also get the opportunity to participate in a burgeoning city art scene that has proven itself to play a pivotal role in New Orleans' rehabilitation.
Central City Artist Project is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts services organization. Contributions on behalf of the Central City Project are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. To make a donation, please click HERE
